What is Home Performance with ENERGY STAR?

The Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program takes a whole house approach to energy efficiency. As a registered contractor, 1st Choice Energy will schedule a No Charge Energy Analysis to determine what qualifying efficiency improvements should be made. This comprehensive energy audit is a series of tests and inspection performed on your home’s HVAC systems, ductwork, attic insulation and exterior areas where outside air may leak in, such as windows and doors.

What does the Energy Analysis Include?

Depending on your home’s features, a comprehensive energy audit checklist can include:

  • Visual inspection of your home’s air conditioning and heating systems

  • Visual inspection of exterior walls for evidence of air leakage

  • Attic inspection to determine amount of attic insulation and condition of ductwork

  • Inspection for thermal bypasses (where hot and/or cold air can bypass insulation)

  • Infrared thermography to identify missing or improperly installed insulation
